Why Do I Feel So Stuck in My Life?

Finding momentum when you feel stuck in your own life.

A THOUGHT FROM ME

“Sometimes the thing keeping you stuck isn’t a lack of motivation. It’s waiting for certainty that never arrives.”

DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?

You may spend a lot of time thinking about change, wanting change or talking about change, yet still feel as though your life isn’t moving in the direction you’d hoped. The frustrating part is that you can be busy every day, constantly solving problems and dealing with responsibilities, whilst still feeling as though you’re standing in the same place.

At times, it can feel as though everyone else is moving forwards whilst you’re going around in circles. You know something needs to change, yet the next step never seems as clear, simple or straightforward as you’d like it to be.

WHAT MAY REALLY BE HAPPENING

Feeling stuck is often mistaken for a lack of motivation, yet what sits underneath can be something very different. Fear of failure, uncertainty, overwhelm, perfectionism or the pressure to make the “right” decision can all create a form of paralysis that looks like standing still from the outside.

The longer we wait to feel ready, the easier it becomes to stay exactly where we are. What often keeps people stuck is not a lack of ability, potential or opportunity, it’s the belief that they need more confidence, more certainty or more clarity before acting. In reality, momentum is usually created through movement, not before it.

A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE

Maybe you don’t need to figure out the next five years of your life before taking the next step. Maybe you don’t need a perfect plan before moving forwards.

Very often, the people who create change are not the people who feel most ready. They’re the people willing to take the next step with the information they have, trusting that clarity will grow as they move.

SOMETHING TO CONSIDER

What is one step you’ve been waiting to feel ready for before allowing yourself to take it?
