A THOUGHT FROM ME
“What if the voice you’ve been searching for is the one you’ve been talking over the whole time?”
DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?
You may find yourself looking for reassurance, checking what other people think or going over a decision repeatedly, even when part of you already knows what feels right.
The difficult part is that the answer is not always missing. Sometimes it is there, but it gets buried underneath doubt, noise, advice, pressure and the habit of questioning yourself before you trust what you already sense.
WHAT MAY REALLY BE HAPPENING
The more often you ignore your instincts, the quieter they tend to become.
This can happen slowly. You override what feels right, explain away your discomfort, follow someone else’s opinion or talk yourself out of what you already know. Over time, your own judgement starts to feel less reliable, not because it has disappeared, but because you have stopped giving it enough space.
This is often where self-trust, confidence, decision making and personal boundaries become closely connected. When you keep looking outside yourself for answers, your inner voice becomes harder to hear. The real issue may not be that you cannot trust yourself. It may be that you have become more practised at doubting yourself than listening to yourself.
A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE
Trusting yourself does not mean ignoring advice, refusing support or believing you will always get every decision right.
It means learning to recognise the difference between helpful guidance and losing yourself in other people’s opinions. Your instincts may not always shout. Sometimes they are quiet, steady and easy to miss when everything else is louder.
SOMETHING TO CONSIDER
What answer do you already know, but keep talking yourself out of trusting?
